In a significant step towards enhancing the quality of education under the PM SHRI initiative, Central Nodal Officer (PM SHRI) and Joint Secretary, Government of India, Abhishek Dev (IAS) began his two-day visit to District Anantnag.
During the first day, the officer visited multiple PM SHRI schools across the district to assess their overall performance. The evaluation focused on academic standards, infrastructure, and administrative functioning, along with key parameters like the Performance Grading Index (PGI) and modern teaching methodologies.
Interacting with students, teachers, and school heads, the officer observed classroom activities and reviewed the level of student participation and institutional readiness. He appreciated the improvements seen in school environments and commended educators for promoting inclusive and student-focused learning.
Emphasizing the need for continuous improvement, he highlighted the importance of effective academic monitoring, better use of resources, digital learning, and competency-based education. He stated that PM SHRI schools should emerge as model institutions showcasing innovation, sustainability, and holistic development.
The visit was attended by senior district officials, including Assistant Commissioner Revenue Anantnag Tariq Ahmad Malik, along with officers from the Education Department such as the Chief Education Officer, District Education Planning Officer, and Samagra Shiksha representatives.
Officials presented progress reports and discussed achievements and challenges during review meetings. The Central Nodal Officer provided guidance to further strengthen implementation and align with national education goals.
The first day concluded with a renewed commitment by the district administration to transform PM SHRI schools into modern, inclusive, and high-quality learning centres.
Further inspections and a detailed review meeting are scheduled on the second day of the visit.
