Awareness Drive Launched in Kulgam for Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision 2026

KULGAM, MARCH 27:
To enhance public participation in the upcoming Panchayat electoral process, the District Election Office Kulgam on Friday initiated an awareness campaign by flagging off an IEC (Information, Education and Communication) van from the Mini-Secretariat complex.
The initiative, led by District Election Officer Shahzad Alam, aims to inform residents across the district about the ongoing revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll 2026. The specially designated van will travel through multiple villages and blocks, spreading awareness about voter registration procedures, including addition of new names, corrections, deletions, and shifting of entries within the electoral rolls.
During the launch, the DEO highlighted the critical role of updated electoral records in ensuring transparency and fairness in grassroots democratic institutions. He stressed that accurate voter lists are essential for conducting free and credible Panchayat elections.
Residents, especially those who are turning 18 years old by April 1, 2026, have been encouraged to check their voter details and complete necessary formalities within the given timeline to secure their voting rights.
The event was attended by several district officials, including the Deputy District Election Officer Bashir-ul-Hassan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reyaz Ahmad Shah, Assistant Commissioner Development Bilal Ahmad Kamgar, along with other concerned officers.
