Drug Awareness and PCPG Meeting Held at Kadder; Joint Operation Against Poppy Cultivation Conducted

Kulgam, April 20: In a continued effort to combat drug abuse and illegal narcotics cultivation, Police Station Behibagh organized a Drug Awareness-cum-PCPG (Police Community Partnership Group) meeting at Kadder today. The initiative was carried out under the broader framework of the Government of India’s anti-drug Campaign, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The awareness program was by SHO Behibagh, Muhsin Ahmad, who emphasized the growing concerns around substance abuse and the importance of community participation in eradicating the menace. Locals, community representatives, and stakeholders attended the meeting, where discussions focused on prevention strategies, early intervention, and strengthening police-public cooperation.
During the session, participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse, legal consequences of involvement in narcotics-related activities, and the role of citizens in reporting such cases. The PCPG platform served as an interactive forum, allowing residents to share concerns and suggestions directly with law enforcement authorities.

In a parallel operation conducted earlier today in the Yamrach area, a joint team comprising officials from the Agriculture Department, Revenue Department, and Police Behibagh carried out a search operation targeting illegal poppy cultivation. The drive aimed at identifying and eliminating any instances of unauthorized crop growth linked to narcotics production.
The operation was conducted under the supervision and directives of Anayat Ali Chowdhary, reflecting a coordinated inter-departmental approach to curb drug-related activities in the district.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict vigilance and urged the public to actively support anti-drug initiatives. Such combined awareness and enforcement measures are expected to play a crucial role in building a drug-free society in the region
