J&K Police Seize Vehicle Bought from Drug Money in Shopian

Shopian, March 18: Continuing its crackdown against narcotics trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian have seized a vehicle allegedly purchased through proceeds generated from the illegal drug trade.According to police officials, a Swift car bearing registration number JK13J-3347, valued at approximately ₹6,80,960, was seized during the operation. The vehicle belongs to Ishfaq Ahmad Koka, son of Abdul Majeed Koka, a resident of Melhura Zainapora.
Police said the vehicle was identified during the investigation as having been acquired using money earned from the illegal sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances. Acting on this evidence, authorities seized the vehicle under the provisions of Section 68 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act).

The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 04/2026 registered at Zainapora Police Station. Officials stated that the entire process was carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures and protocols.

Police reiterated their strong commitment to eliminating the drug menace from the district and urged citizens to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking or other illegal activities.

Authorities emphasized that strict action will continue against individuals involved in narcotics trade as part of the ongoing efforts to ensure a drug-free society.
