50-Bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital Inaugurated at Kulgam

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today inaugurated a 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Chawalgam in Kulgam district.
The hospital has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹7.40 crore and aims to strengthen healthcare services in the region by promoting traditional systems of medicine along with modern healthcare facilities.
Among those present on the occasion were Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shahzad Alam, Director AYUSH, ADC Kulgam, Chief Medical Officer Kulgam and several other officials from the district administration, along with a large number of local residents.
Speaking during the inauguration, the minister said that the government led by Omar Abdullah is committed to providing affordable, inclusive and quality healthcare services to people at the grassroots level. She said that integrating AYUSH with conventional medicine will expand treatment options and help revive traditional healing systems.
The minister added that the hospital will provide treatment under Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani and Homeopathy, ensuring better healthcare access for people in Kulgam and nearby areas.
The facility includes inpatient wards, outpatient departments, Panchakarma therapy units, diagnostic services, yoga and wellness centres, and consultation rooms to improve patient care.
She also highlighted the role of AYUSH in preventive healthcare, lifestyle management and boosting immunity, adding that the hospital will also conduct health awareness programmes and community outreach activities.
The minister assured that the government will provide the required staff and resources to ensure smooth functioning of the hospital. She also said that work on the macadamization of the approach road and landscaping of the hospital premises will be taken up soon.
MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami appreciated the contribution of healthcare workers, while Deputy Commissioner Shahzad Alam spoke about the development of healthcare infrastructure in the district.
