DC Kulgam Reviews Solid Waste Management Facility at Liroo

KULGAM, March 18:

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, visited the Solid Waste Management (SWM) site at Liroo to review its functioning and ongoing operations.
During the visit, the DC inspected various sections of the facility including the compost pits and the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). He also assessed the overall working of the waste management site and reviewed the progress of different activities being carried out there.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officials to ensure that the facility becomes fully operational as soon as possible so that waste can be managed efficiently in the district.
While interacting with the officials, he highlighted the importance of effective waste management and stressed proper segregation of waste at the source. He also asked the officials to ensure timely processing of waste and quick disposal of legacy waste accumulated at the site.
The DC further instructed the authorities to strictly follow the Solid Waste Management rules and maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene at the facility.
He urged the officials to take a proactive approach in improving operations and ensuring sustainable waste management practices across Kulgam district.
