Police Cracks Theft Case in Pulwama, Stolen Vehicle Recovered

Pulwama, March 17 (SKN): Demonstrating swift and effective policing, Police in Pulwama have solved a theft case within days of its reporting and recovered the stolen vehicle.According to officials, on March 14, 2026, Police Station Kakapora received a written complaint from Mohd Noor Alam, son of Abdul Hashim, a resident of Banagogi, Badalgawun in Assam’s Nagaon district. In his complaint, he stated that unknown thieves had stolen his Auto Rickshaw bearing registration number JK04D-3791 from Kakapora Chowk.

Following the complaint, Police registered FIR No. 20/2026 under relevant sections of law and initiated an investigation.

Acting swiftly on specific inputs, a police team from Police Station Kakapora apprehended a suspect identified as Yawar Ahmad Shaksaz, son of Manzoor Ahmad and a resident of Karnabal Samboora. During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the crime, which led to the recovery of the stolen auto rickshaw at his instance.

During further investigation, the accused also revealed his involvement in another theft case. He, along with an accomplice identified as Amir Ahmad Sofi, son of Gh Mohd Sofi and a resident of Astan Mohalla Kakapora, had allegedly stolen batteries from vehicles parked in Okhoo in July last year. Acting on the disclosure, police also recovered some of the stolen batteries.

Police said that further investigation in the case is underway.

Meanwhile, J&K Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police establishment.
