Indu Kanwal Chib Inspects NHAI Semi Ring Road Project, Naninara Bridge Route Closed for One Week

Bandipora, March 19: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, carried out a detailed field inspection on Thursday across several areas including Wangipora Sumbal, Naninara Bridge, Hajin, and Chandergir to review ongoing development works and assess ground conditions.
During her visit to Wangipora Sumbal, the DC examined the progress of the Semi Ring Road Phase II project being implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Officials informed her about certain challenges slowing down the work, particularly an issue related to a graveyard falling along the road alignment, which has limited the width of the road to two lanes at one stretch. She directed the concerned departments to resolve the matter through proper coordination with stakeholders while ensuring that the project timeline is not affected. She also emphasized speeding up the construction by deploying sufficient manpower and machinery.
At Naninara Bridge, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the ongoing construction and evaluated its structural condition. Considering the current weather and the sensitive nature of the work, she announced that the alternate route will remain closed for all kinds of vehicles, including two-wheelers, for the next one week. She appreciated the efforts of the R&B Sub-Division Sumbal, along with the support from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and district administration.
The DC acknowledged the inconvenience caused to the public due to the closure and requested their patience, stating that safety and quality of the infrastructure are the administration’s top priorities.
Later, she visited Hajin and Chandergir areas to inspect locations affected by land subsidence. She instructed the concerned departments to carry out proper assessments and take timely, coordinated action to reduce risks and protect the affected areas. She also stressed the need for a long-term solution to address the issue.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with local residents, listened to their concerns, and assured them of full support from the administration. She highlighted that public cooperation is essential for the timely completion of development works.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Hussain Shawl, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal, Executive Engineers, Tehsildar Sumbal, and other officials.
