The Auqaf also urged the authorities not to create any hindrance in the smooth conduct of the prayers and to respect the religious sentiments of the people. It expressed hope that arrangements would be facilitated and no restrictions would be imposed on the sacred occasion.
Referring to earlier incidents, the Auqaf said that preventing prayers on occasions such as Shab-e-Qadr and Jumat-ul-Vida had caused widespread resentment among the people, and expressed hope that such actions would not be repeated on Eid.
Meanwhile, the Auqaf clarified that the Zakat-ul-Fitr amount for this year has been fixed at ₹80 per person, which must be paid before offering the Eid prayer, in accordance with Shariah guidelines.
Thousands of worshippers are expected to gather at the historic mosque in the old city to offer Eid prayers and mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
